Call to Action!

Hello Community,

The LGBTQ Center OC is writing to ask for your support to encourage the Orange County Fairgrounds’ Board of Directors to strengthen their diversity efforts and to continue to fly the Pride flag. Recently, officials from the Orange County Fairgrounds have sent a survey to gather public opinions on whether the Pride flag should be removed or accompanied by others. Responses are available to view here:

Subject: Support the Pride Flag at the Orange County Fairgrounds

Dear (NAME),

I’m writing in support of the Pride flag at the Orange County Fairgrounds. As a community member living in Orange County, it is important that we stand for inclusion and representation, and work together to address discrimination. It is important for the Orange County Fairgrounds to acknowledge and create a welcoming space for all its community members, including those community members who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and/or queer. Thank you for your time and consideration.

#3 – Attend at the upcoming Board of Directors meeting and speak/submit comments during Public Comment on Thursday, February 25th at 9:00 am PST.

Call to Action!

Hello Community,

The LGBTQ Center OC is writing to ask for your support to encourage the Orange County Fairgrounds’ Board of Directors to strengthen their diversity efforts and to reinstate the Pride flag. Recently, officials from the Orange County Fairgrounds have sent a survey to gather public opinions on whether the Pride flag should be removed or accompanied by others.

Allowing the Pride flag to be continuously flown sends a clear message to our Orange County community. It demonstrates inclusion and representation, while also calling attention to the importance to address discrimination and erasure, especially as hate crimes and incidents towards lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people have alarmingly increased over the past five years in Orange County.

We are asking for your support in the following ways:

  • #1 – Sign our Letter of Support that we will be submitting during open discussion with the Community Affairs Committee regarding Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Community Engagement (click on button).
