We stand with you.

The LGBTQ Center OC stands with the countless youth, students, parents, families, and community members who are advocating for justice for Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Nina Pop, Tony McCade, and many others who have experienced oppression and systemic violence. We share our mourning and anger with the Orange County community, and with other communities and cities across the country who are using their voices and bodies to put an end to this senseless violence. We cannot forgive these injustices.

As a community, we must do better to ensure Black lives and voices are heard. We must do more to support and uplift this critical time and act.

Intersectionality is a driving force in our community and programmatic work. In our commitment to racial equity and to continue our support for Black communities and communities of color, we are working to ensure that diverse voices are centered at the table. We have established positions on our Board of Directors and are committed to having inclusive thought in our Boardroom. We are in the planning stages for a mentorship program to uplift LGBTQ youth of color so that they can achieve academic and career support and success. We are developing innovative social, educational, mental health, and leadership programming focused on LGBTQ people of color set to launch this summer.

We are committed to create space, where we can listen, educate ourselves, and move together to take action against racism and violence. Together, we will facilitate conversations and truly have tangible goals that will strengthen our allyship with communities of color.

But we need to do better. We need to do more. We call upon donors and funders to take an active role and contribute funding towards our ongoing efforts so that our staff can do their part to make real change. Any donation amount can truly assist and support initiatives and specific efforts that will create new opportunities for Black LGBTQ community members.

We have a passionate, intelligent, and very capable group of folks at our Center that continue to host impactful programming for our community.  We’re ready to do better. But we’ll need to do this together. Please contact us through social media, our website, or our main office line.
