The grant was awarded to support general programs that benefit the LGBTQ community of Orange County. Wells Fargo foundation has been a generous and consistent supporter of the LGBTQ Center OC for over the years. In addition to its fiscal support of the life affirming programs offered by the LGBTQ Center OC, Wells Fargo Foundation makes available to our organization one of its own. Scott O’Donnell, project manager for Wells Fargo Foundations sits on our Board of Directors and is an active member of our Special Events Committee.

For 43 years, the LGBTQ Center OC has been advocating on behalf of the Orange County LGBTQ community, working to ensure its well-being through a wide variety of programs. In 2014 the LGBTQ Center OC provided free HIV testing to over 1,100 high risk individuals, created the Trans*itions transgender affirming health and wellness program, provided hundreds of lower income LGBTQ and heterosexual individuals with professional mental health services, in addition to building upon its incredibly successful “Color Me Equal” campaign that creates anti-bullying Safe Zones that affect thousands of Orange County students.

Wells Fargo Foundation believes that grant-making decisions are more effective when made locally and the LGBTQ Center OC appreciates the ongoing partnership with such a community minded organization.
