AT THE LGBTQ CENTER OC, YOU ARE AS WELCOME AS THE FLOWERS IN MAY!

Friends, family, and valued members of the LGBTQ Center OC,

May is always one of the most exciting months of the year for us. We’ve started May 2019 off on a spectacular note, celebrating in the success of this year’s Indigo Ball. It was the one magical evening per year where friends, community members, allies, donors, sponsors, and partners gathered together under one roof to celebrate the progress and impact of the LGBTQ Center OC and the LGBTQQ community here in Orange County. Everyone came together to recognize not only the Center’s achievements, but those of upstanding community members as well.

The evening started out with a super stellar visit from the 501st Legion, where characters from the beloved Star Wars franchise mingled with us while all decked out in pride gear from a galaxy far, far away! It was great catching up with friends old and new, including a visit from local district representatives who came to show support.

The room was decorated with fabulous indigo splendor, themed to a night of elegance and togetherness. Guests were greeted with Indigo Ball 2019 programs and upgraded wine bottles at their tables.

We were honored to have Jeanne and Gideon Bernstein as our Torchbearer honorees this year. They are exemplary philanthropists and kind-hearted people through and through, sparking change and good deeds through the #BlazeItForward movement.

We were also grateful for the opportunity to honor John Whelan and Brad Prescott, two incredible givers who, through the Whelan-Prescott foundation, sent 19 kids to college, paid the LGBTQ Center OC’s mortgage, and sponsored non-profit events consistently over the years.

Each guest left the night not only with high spirits, but also with a pair of tickets to OC Fair 2019! Be sure to visit this year’s Out At The Fair, OC Fair’s first official Pride celebration on July 28th! The LGBTQ Center will be there, so be sure to stop by and say hello. Mark your calendar!

Our 55+ social and support group, which meets on Wednesdays from 2:00PM – 3:30PM, is increasing in number and interest. Our successful growth of our senior services programs creates a safe space for LGBTQQ community members 55 years of age or better to meet with peers, find support, and discuss unique issues and experiences. We’d love to have you!

Upcoming for the months of May and June, we have some exciting events and youth opportunities that you won’t want to miss. Find out what’s in store for you as spring slowly melts into summer!

Best wishes,

Peg Corley
Executive Director, LGBTQ Center OC
